How long does the session last?
John has three different sessions; 15-20 minutes, 1 hour, and up to 2 hours.
Why three different sessions"?
The sessions are designed for different purposes. The 15-20 minute is for someone that needs a Linkedin or a real estate agent wanting just one or two images. The 1 hour gives the subject additional choices in looks and clothing. The session that goes for up to two hours includes headshots, three quarter and full length images with multiple looks and clothing changes.
What should I wear?
Stay away from bright colors and heavy patterns. Solid subtle colors look good, prints less so. You can’t go wrong with dark shirts and jackets, although white can give a crisp and clean look. A great headshot is a collaboration between you and the photographer. I encourage you to bring several choices so we can choose the best combinations to make you shine!
Do I need makeup?
It is recommended that unless professionally done, any makeup be applied lightly. Men and women should come with their hair done. Men should shave as close to the session time as possible.
Do you retouch the images?
Yes. I remove blemishes and skin imperfections but, I do NOT alter the face in any way.
How can you help me feel more comfortable in front of the camera?
Many people feel uncomfortable in front of a camera. Our photo session is a collaborative effort and we go at your pace. The images are available on a computer screen as we take them and by doing this we find what works and what doesn’t. The objective is get a photo that you like, we don’t finish until you are satisfied.
Why do you shoot in the landscape (horizontal) format?
Photographing headshots allow for the most marketability. By leaving space around the head copy, such as your name or address, can be added to the photo. And although the headshots are done horizontally, most full length and 3/4 portraits are taken in the vertical formate.
